On December 7, 2011 a new monument was dedicated at Veterans Memorial Park in Boise Idaho. On this day, the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Wake Island and the attack on Pearl Harbor, approximately 300 people gathered to honor the brave defenders of Wake Island - both civilian and military. This blog documents the efforts of an Eagle Scout and his project to make sure we do not forget this story.

Gift from Navy
Noah got an incredible graduation gift from Captain
Charles Rock, commanding officer at Commander Fleet
Activities Sasebo Japan, Barry Kelso of Boise, and Phil Eakins, Sasebo
Japan. A box arrived from Sasebo containing a Wake Island flag and other
items. The flag was flown at the Navy Base in Sasebo on May 28, 2014.
We are very grateful for Barry's thoughtfulness and the efforts Captain
Rock and Phil for arranging for this and mailing it to Noah. It is a
treasure.
Love thy Neighbor
This is an interesting story; wonder what the time frame was on the events mentioned.
